Last night we got "time barred" on the trip down. They closed the road after dark for security reasons. This morning as we were getting started on section that had been closed, we past the army patrol that clears the road before it is opened.
Today has been busy as we planned. What we did not plan was that we started the day 210 kms out of Sedhiou. We went directly to Dialandiahoto and got in on the last of the sermon. We had the opportunity say a few words after Pastor Tchinda preached a good message. There were 3 who stood for prayer to be pastors … I think all three wanted to be pastor of the church rather starting new ones.
After lunch, we had a meeting with women leaders who were concerned about their funding for travel to a women's conference in Ziginchour. Following that we met with the church leaders for about 2 hours. They are interested in training for pastors and church leaders. We hope to work out a plan for training with an appropriate certificate that is fancy!
Following that meeting, we traveled back to Bamakounda where we met with the fellowship there. Because the day was Tabasky (the day Muslims believe was when Abraham offered Ishmael as a sacrifice. Every town we past through and bus had one or two rams on the luggage rack.), we did the story of Abraham and Isaac. It went well but in a society where giving the wrong answer is met with rejection and/or discipline, there were not many answers to my questions. We then traveled back to the guest house after stopping at the chemist, and the boutique for drinks. We finally got unladed, and into bedrooms. After supper I spent 2 hours working on overviewing the discipleship training manual and showing them the S-T4T material. My bag will be considerably less weight going forward.
With the women leaving for Zig on Thursday, our schedule is changed to teach Monday and Tuesday rather than Thursday and Friday. We still may do something on one of these days as well. The Jesus Film has been put back till probably Thursday night.
