Blog Post form the 9th

Wednesday, November 09, 2011

This has been a great day. It was the coolest day we have had or felt. What better way to spend your birthday than setting under a Mango tree in Africa talking to people about Jesus. Folks it don't get any better than that… except being able to speak several languages so that you would not miss any of the interaction.

The day started with being able to "sleep in" until after 7 a.m. Some of us actually got 7 hours of sleep. Pam mentioned that she had gotten the best night sleep is many days. Mica has felt sleep deprived on some days. Pastor Roger just keeps on going. After some healthy witnessing opportunities with both the men and the women, we traveled down to Buno where we saw Fatou and Fatoumata. It was a big time that could have been bigger had we been able to stay.

Tomorrow we will be loaded and ready to go at 8:45. We hope to set up an appointment with the Governor before we leave. We will then go to Bambali to catch a boat to cross the river to Diattacounda … about a 40 minute boat ride to cross the river. We need to be back by 3 so we can load up the projector, generator, etc for the Jesus film. We will go to Dialandiahoto to pray for the showing. We should be back at the guest house by mid-night.

Friday we plan on going back in the a.m. to talk with those who might have seen the Jesus Film on Thursday night. We plan on shutting thing down Friday p.m. so we can rest and prepare for the journey back on Saturday. It would have been better to drive part way on Friday, but it would cost an additional $200. So we will just bit the bullet and make the hard journey.

Thanks for praying for us. This trip has been different. For one, we have spent the evenings discussing discipleship principles. We provided them with a copy of Real Life Ministry Discipleship Manual and a copy of S-T4T. The fellows that we count on for so much all indicated that it has been very profitable for them. We demonstrated storying and processing the experience to them. We hope to interact with Pastor Ngor about vision and strategy development for Sedhiou. If we are going to have a church planting movement, we need a dynamic church here in Sedhiou as well as an anchor church like Dialandiahoto. Pastor Tchinda wants us badly to come to Guinea Bissau. They have 11 churches that minister strictly to Manjak people. They have need of removing barriers to the expansion of the gospel that is in their current structure.
