What's in a Name?

You might have noticed that Brother Sam and Dave are referring to the people to whom they are ministering as "Manjaku" instead of Mandjak. This is the name by which they refer to themselves as a people group. Mandyak, as it turns out, is the French word used to identify these people.

The cultural name is an important part of the worldview for our people group, and in keeping with our desire to reach them on their own terms, we have decided to begin referring to them as the Manjaku. We feel that this is an important step toward reaching them for Christ.

For the time being, the address of this blog will remain "GoMandyak.Blogspot.com", but will probably be changed before our next trip to Senegal. When you see us referring to the "Manjaku", you can rest assured we are talking about the same people group as before!
