Here is what our prayer team heard from Sam at our noon gathering at Calvary Baptist Church today, November 10, 2011. It was early evening in West Africa and the team was driving along and nearly to the place where they were meeting to pray and then go to show the Jesus Film at a nearby village. They still plan to return to that village tomorrow morning for followup on the film and to allow Q&As about the film. Continue to pray for openness and the Holy Spirit's leading.
Earlier in the day, Pastor Roger, Sam, and Pastor Ngor had met with the regional Governor at his office. The Governor position is much like that of a state governor here in the U.S. It appears there will may be another meeting possibility outside of his office with him where they can just share tea together while they talk about spiritual matters.
The team had taken a boat across the river to visit an independent mission. This mission had been started by a nurse who had started a discipleship school for pastors in French, Portuguese, and English as well as other dialects. While the people there are not Manjak, it did give the team a chance to see how they operate and make contacts in that area. The information should be useful in our strategic planning for the Manjak.
The broken seat in the van got repaired and is better and stronger than before. They were thankful that it got fixed in time before the long trip back to Dakar. We could hear the team laughing and having a good time together as they were traveling along. Sam said they were just passing a bus load of people with chickens and all sorts of other things; then they had to stop and let the cows cross the road.
Pastor Roger and Sam continue to share and teach discipleship to the local leaders, especially Jefferson, Joseph, Tchinda, and Pastor Ngor. Continue to pray for the local leaders as they share and teach God's word. Pray also for God's call to the people.
It is a custom there to give our team members a local name. So, it keeping with that custom they gave Mica Enlow a new name. We would give it to you here but it is so long we couldn't get it all down so she will have to share that later. This is just one more confirmation of the acceptance of our team and that God is using them.
Tomorrow (Friday) after the team has met with the village for Qs&As following the Jesus film, the team plans to get packed up and get some rest in the afternoon for the early departure Saturday morning. Continue to pray for Jefferson as he will be driving the 14 hour trip.
