Here is what our prayer
team heard from Sam at our noon gathering at Calvary Baptist Church today,
November 9, 2011.
In general, things are
going very well and the team is having a great time ministering and
sharing. The women on the team (Pam, Mica, and the Brazilian lady who is
with them) ministered and taught many ladies and children today. The men
went to Kontoubou, the village where there are no believers. They were
able to make contact with the Chief and so Pastor Roger and the other men got
to share with him but there is still followup needed. They also met
a friend of Jefferson (who is driving and interpreting for the team) who was
from the village so that was a good contact for them. We need to continue
to pray for that village that God will be revealed.
At Buneo today they got
to visit with Fatou. She is doing fine. She had fallen and injured
a finger so it was wrapped up but she was outside playing so it had not slowed
her down. While there they were also able to get needed food supplies
including a case of eggs, live chicken, and three watermelons. That
sounded good to Sam as he in not real keen on the fish and rice.
Speaking of Sam, it is a
special day for him as it is his birthday. Various ones sang "Happy
Birthday" to him and of course he enjoyed it. He specifically
planned to be in the village where there are no believers so that the message
could be shared. What a way to celebrate your birthday, sharing the Good
News!
Pastor Roger and Sam
shared the intro to discipleship today with the local leaders, and Sam also
shared that the pastor from Guinea-Bissau where they had the big mission push
to reach the Manjak a few months ago was there and saw the discipleship
material that we are using for training. He thinks that the material
would be a great tool to use in Guinea-Bissau but it will need to be approved
for translation to French & maybe other languages so keep that as a matter
of prayer. He would really like for our team to go down there and help
also.
Pastor Roger was about
ready to start a Bible study this evening so pray for understanding and God's
call and guidance to the people there.
The "Jesus
Film" is scheduled to be shown on Thursday night. Pray for God's
call to the people as they hear the message. The team will go back on
Friday to see if there are questions. Pray that the message will be clear
to all that hear and that they will ask the questions that can lead to their
salvation.
Sam also asked that we
begin to pray for their trip back to Dakar as they leave by 6:00 am from
Sedhiou. Specifically, he wants us to pray for Jefferson who is the
driver. It is a long trip (14 hours) so pray that Jefferson is well
rested and that the vehicle has no troubles.
