Today was a day of “It Just So Happened”

Yesterday we asked you to pray for our trip … the departure which was to be early … 5:30 am … we were off slightly late at 5:40. We picked up the lady who traveled to Zig with us and was at the Doctor’s office by 5:55 am for Jefferson’s rabies shot. We had to wait on Joseph due to a slow rapid bus. It just so happened that we did get off very close to what we had asked you to pray about.

We got through immigrations and customs leaving Senegal and entering the Gambia without much problem. When approaching the ferry, we counted approximately 149 trucks and buses. We were able to move forward to wait with a couple of taxis, and pickups. They had two ferries working today which was good. When we arrived, one was leaving and one was waiting to unload, They put the taxis on and then started loading trucks (and trailers) about 5 or 6. We thought we would have to wait for the next one, but It Just So Happened that we were able to squeeze into a space at the back (parked a little sideways!) … it was tight but we made it.

We made it through quickly on the south side of the Gambia (where 85 trucks and buses were waiting).. They have a new highway through the Gambia … probably some of the best road we had which was another answer to prayer for we got through quicker than later.

We arrived in Zig and got a room in the La Famboyant hotel which is where we stayed on our first trip to Senegal. After getting our stuff settled we took advantage of the pool about 5 p.m. We were able to sit and talk in the water and discuss many issues of missions with Russell and Jefferson … Joseph did not join us … I think he has a fear of the water. At about 8, totally relaxed from the heat of the day and the tiredness of the trip, we started getting out. I slipped on a painted portion of the pool and fell. A family and group of African were setting nearby. A man jumped up and was the first to get to me. His wife was close behind. They were honestly concerned and helpful. Jefferson who was drying off came and engaged them in conversation. It Just So Happened that they were from Guinea Bissau. The man who helped me told Jefferson that if there was a problem with the Embasy tomorrow, just tell them that we were a friend of his and if they had a question to call him … even giving Jefferson his cell number. When Bro. Russell and I get back, we will explain more fully.

Pastor Tsinda, whom this man knows, will be here to go with us to the Embassy and go with us back to Canchungo as a guide and helper.

Prayer needs:
  • That we will be able to get the visas quickly
  • That we will be able to locate and purchase the necessary items
  • That we will be safe in crossing the border and traveling to Canchungo
  • That everyone that the Father wants in the seminar as a facilitator will arrive on time
  • That we will have a great training session with these
  • That all of the logistical arrangement will work out

Bro. Sam
