| It was announced that we would have Wi-Fi available after reaching 10,000 feet. One minor detail… it is not available beyond 100 miles out at sea!!!. Travel today has been bumpy most of the time with patches of smooth air. It just gives a foretaste of what will come tomorrow as we "get the feel of Africa" once again. On the way to the airport in Springfield, Buddy asked an interesting question. Do you experience spiritual warfare when you go on these mission trips? It seems that he and his family felt what they considered to be attacks of the one of this world. Their son had a health issue where he could not breathe. It put him in the hospital for two nights. Then as we were getting ready to depart Springfield, the plane was extremely hot … like a sauna. Buddy began to get nauseated so during the flight he spent most of he time in the room at the back of the plane. He still had a queasy stomach in the layover in Atlanta despite eating several little pink chewable tablets. However, after you all prayed for him and the tablets possibly working during the flight from Atlanta to JFK in New York, he felt better upon arrival. He was able to have a sandwich at Chili's, keeping it down without difficulty. Now it appears that his hard drive may have crashed! Please pray for us. What does the Father want to do that the evil one fighting so hard? The flight with Africans is always fun. Traveling rules and safety issues are not known or followed at the flight attendants would like. Watching folks try to squeeze stuffed bags in the overhead binds is interesting. Little girls getting locked in the toilet (they really had no problem … just mom! Seat belt lights have little meaning to some who feel they need to get up for something or go to the little room in the back of the plane. God blessed us with empty seats so that we could stretch out and get a little sleep. Please continue to pray for us. Spiritual warfare is real especially when you are seeking to invade the gates of hell … the gates of darkness that the prince of the world has held tightly closed for so long. Monday, March 1, 2011 We had a great start. Jefferson was there to meet us at the airport. His vehicle is working wonderfully … he had to put in a new or rebuilt engine and got it back on Friday. We met Pastor Ngore and Joseph along the way just outside of Dakar. We did run into a snag. When we got to the ferry, they only had one of three working. It had some real steering problems or the pilot was drunk. Then that one broke down and was out of commission for over an hour. I would have felt better about him pulling out from the ramp and being next to the other ferry that had been put into service by that time … If he had not been getting a plate of food from the common bowl supper that was being eaten in the pilot house!!! He proceeded to eat the food as he continue to pull out and drive across the Gambia river. The line of vehicles (trucks mainly) were backed up for over two miles. They did let us go up to the gate that was closed. After some discussion, they opened them for us to go in. The lot inside was full as well. It took about 4.5 hours for us to get on the ferry. We docked and unloaded at 6:30. We arrived in Sedhiou at 9 pm and got in the house at 9:30. Just after we arrived in Sedhiou, the electricity was lost. So we have been doing things by candle light. After a quick supper, some sorting out of rooms, etc. showers and got to bed. Thanks to those who prayed us through the trip which turned out to be 14 hours on top of our flight from Springfield.
