A Great Day Sharing God’s Word

This post is for yesterday from Sam:

The days never get started the way that it should. We had planned to arrive at 10 a.m. but arrived at 11:30. We got started soon after arrival. Jefferson Cordiero, a Brazilian working with New Tribes, translated for me. Jefferson is one of those that I consider having the gift of tongues. He speaks 4 languages fluently. He speaks Portuguese, English, French, and Mandjack. This was the first time he translated from English to Mandjack. As far as we could tell, he did an excellent job. There was freedom to share with power. From the light in their eyes, you could tell that we were getting through. They expressed appreciated for the teachings for the day. A friend of Jefferson’s from across the river came to visit Jefferson and attend the teaching. He shared with Jefferson that at any time in the future when we do such teaching to let him know so he can come. Even Yusuf, the seeker, seemed to grasp more of the truth about Christ and I felt that he has a much clearer comprehension of what Christ did for us. It is hard, however, to go against years of beliefs and practices. To realize that you have been deceived by the prince of this world is difficult. Continue to pray for him because he is sort of the sub chief now of Kountoubou. If he comes to faith in Christ, then the village will be more likely to follow the Lord. There are many Mandjack in this area we are told.

Pray that the teachings shared with these believers will take root and give them strength and maturity in the faith. It is extremely important to have the foundation strong in the only Mandjack church in Senegal.

Pray also that the villages where members are teaching literacy will be open for them to share their faith in Christ. Pray also that the trainers will be bold and intentional with their witness. We asked them to seek where God is working in a village and share their faith and hope in Christ with them.

As we finished the day, we had a real satisfaction that God had and will continue to use what has been shared. Since we forbade Cindy from going with us, Claude taught the women. He finished up the food pyramid, dealt with some common diseases … both symptoms and cures …, and then shared a witness for Christ because they had invited some women to join them. As we went down to join the women when we finished, they started singing and dancing … rejoicing in the Lord. The joy believers have in worship is an experience that I hope some day you will have.

Bro. Sam
