To catch you up…

The clinic in Sansamba went very well yesterday (Saturday) and was an answer to our prayers. We were able to see patients for the length of the day, with Dr. Soh and Dr. Ray seeing medical patients and Dr. Mike dental patients, as in clinics past. As you probably could tell from our last post, we had been feeling some uneasiness about going back to Sansamba, unsure of the kind of reception we would receive on clinic day, as well as the openness (or lack their of) to the Gospel. It came to pass that not one person, including the imams and sheriff, did not resist prayer from our team; the evangelical team was also able to witness individually to many people. The crowd was cooperative and calm. We had prayed to receive the full armor of God to wear into battle, and He definitely clothed us.

After a little sleep, we arose this morning to head out on the bumpy road for Dakar. We pulled out at 6am from Sedhiou, and had merciful travels through the Gambia to the northern Senegalese border. It was soon then that our van got an “owie.” After seeing a steady stream of oil flow from the van, we pulled over and soon bad became worse. The van spewed the entire contents of oil, and was officially out of commission. Our warrior driver Moussa and his pit crew were able to get us to Dakar tonight by the grace of God. After driving for a total of 17 hours today, with a small Ranger pickup towing an 11 passenger van (with people in it) through the bumps and humps of the Senegalese roads, using ropes, chains, bars, and whatever would hold, we are here safely. They did an amazing job to get us here, and we are so thankful that God has blessed us with an African team that loves and cares for us to get us where we need to be safely. Praise God.

As you can see from the length and lack of depth to my post, we are very tired. We are in Dakar at the guest house, and will rest here tonight. Tomorrow, we plan to visit the students at ICRD (International Center for Refuge and Development) and perform a small clinic for the kids. We will go to market in the afternoon tomorrow, then will head to the airport at about midnight. Please pray for the children there; they often do not have parents in Dakar (or at all) , and have many struggles to endure as they study.

Thank you all for your prayers the past couple of days. We are so thankful to you all, and are looking forward to seeing you. We love and miss you. Please continue to pray for the health and safety of the team- there was much exhaust and dust today, as the A/C was not able to run in 2 of the 3 vehicles, so much of the way was travelled with the windows down; please continue to pray for the seeds that have been planted in Bamacounda and Sansamba this past week- pray that they have fallen on fertile ground, and that hearts and lives will be changed; pray for safe travels tomorrow and overnight—we will see you Thursday!! Sorry the post is short- going to take a shower and try to sleep! Will post some pictures to say what my words cannot tonight. Until tomorrow…

Our dear friend Dr. Soh reminded us today to think back at the travels of the apostle Paul, and how difficult they must have been; how far he had to travel, the roadblocks that he hit along the way. It is a reminder to us that the same God that sent Paul out to preach to the people is the God that protected us on our journey today…praise be unto His name. His faithful love endures forever.
