Prayer reminder...

Put yourself in this situation… you are in a foreign land serving the Lord with your skill as a medical practitioner in a small clinic in a small village. As the daylight hours draw to a close you know you need to get on the road so you don’t have to travel at dark, but there are many people waiting in line to see you – some have waited for most of two days. Some are ill themselves, some carrying sick little ones with them. Some have walked 15-20 miles to participate in this event, which they have anticipated for six months.

If you can imagine this scenario, you can easily put yourselves in the shoes of our team as the day wanes in Senegal today. Just prior to lunchtime today (11am CST) they will have to get serious about packing up and leaving, for safety’s sake. Imagine the mental and spiritual heartbreak of leaving these many that have come so far and waited so long to see you. This could be one of the hardest things they’ve ever done.

Folks, the team need your prayers today more than ever. They need specific prayer that:
The Lord will maintain a civil peace in the village
He will comfort the hearts of those who are heartbroken by not being seen
He will give the team kind words, gestures and attitudes that will turn away any wrath
The clinic personal will be able to use the remaining medical supplies to treat any who have to be turned away

Remember that we will be meeting at Calvary at noon for prayer. If there is any way you can make it, please join us. The team needs His covering today more than ever so let’s show our faith in Him and our support for them in the best way we can – by remembering them in prayer at mid-day today.

Thank you for your faithfulness,

Scott Forbes

  1. I just want to say thankyou to "the lunch club"! We have had outstanding attendance during the noon prayer times - including some of the church bedrock prayer warriors!

I want to let you know that I will be at the church for the 6 am prayer time in the morning, then will be going to Webb City with the rest of the disaster releif folks for a little chainsaw therapy.

In my absence, the Queen of the Whispering Tribe (aka Cindy Daugherty) will stand in at lunch tomorrow. Please remember how critically important prayer is to this effort. I hope to return for the 6 pm prayer time (in my Carhardts and boots).

Whether you can make it for prayer time or not, please take a moment to stop during the day and remember our team, the nationals, and all missionaries thoughout the world in prayer.

    Love you all,
    Scott

Scott, you are so right! We CANNOT let up in prayer. I have dated in my Bible 12/12/06 is when God gave me the scripture passage of Col 4:2-6 to claim for the medical mission. The Word speaks for itself ...
"DEVOTE YOURSELF TO PRAYER, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may porclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let you conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone".

The key is prayer and we must stay on our knees! Doors are being swung wide opened...we praise His name!
    Cindy
