From Brother Sam in Senegal...

"I am the only Christian in my village; please pray for me and my village..."

Those were the words of Opa Mendy who comes from the village of Bona. He came to worship today at Jililandikoto. Having missed two weeks running monkeys out of his field of peanuts, he was happy to be back in worship. Bona is about 5 km (@3 miles) from the church via a path.

Worship in Africa is always an exciting experience. The song service moves …. Literally because Africans love singing and cannot stand still. Bro. Robert preached on John 3:16. I did a presentation from 2 Timothy on the type of teaching that Tom has come to do. This was done to prepare them for our discussion that was to follow church. We are still “stuck” so to speak until we can visit with Opa Bas. They would like to be trained, but will not proceed without the approval of the pastor. They had lots of questions and hopefully, we explained things well. The team in November found Opa in Zig with a very sick wife. They talked with him about the training we were preparing for them as well as the medical clinic in Sansamba. But I am not sure much besides concern for his wife, Tuttie (spelling?), was heard. They were to help at Sansamba but did not arrive. They were expecting the team last Sunday to worship with them. It is a hard 2+ hour drive one way to his place, but only about 15 miles!!! Does that say something for the condition of the road? The medical team would have died making that trip and then to Zig in the same day. By the way, Paul the deacon indicated that Tuttie was doing OK since she had come with Opa on his last visit.

On the way back from church, we stopped to pick up three sacks of oranges (Tom estimated they were about 60 lbs each). They indicated that they paid equivalent to $3. each. Now they are not the sweet California navel oranges. These are probably green in our opinion. But they like them. Larry Enlow sure eat enough of them so he could get fiber and vitamin C during the medical clinic. He found they have a lot of seeds.

The only other excitement today was when Tom got locked in the bathroom. The worker had to get it unlocked. From now on when the door is closed, we have to KNOCK not lock.

Please pray that we will make contact with Opa Bas soon so we can get that training of trainers organized as it should be before Robert and I have to leave.

Please pray that Tom will feel comfortable moving about the country side in whatever transportation he can find.

Please pray that the ATM setup in Zig will work for him to get funds monthly or as needed.

Please pray for our shopping trip in Zig that we will remember everything that we need to get for Tom.
