Additional Medical Training...

Dear Calvary Family,

I stand totally amazed when I step back and see how God has orchestrated HIS plan and connects all the dots to accomplish HIS plan yet at the same time tends to every detail, making sure that HIS provision is there for us as we walk in obedience to HIS call.

Last January God introduced Dr Brian Steele to me. He is from St. Louis, MO and has operated a YWAM (Youth With a Mission) clinic here in Dakar for 14 yrs. He has been our key medical resource, in Senegal, for implimenting the medical mission in Sansamba this upcoming January. His love and devotion to the Lord is so evident in his service to others.

Angela, Scott, and myself had the opportunity to go to the clinic yesterday morning. When we left, Angela and I both knew that we had just had a divine appt.....we had the privilege of meeting a missionary, Jane Penny, whose sending agency has just started a Christian school for the deaf....and that she has a 7 year old deaf child that is Mandyaku living with her. While we were visiting with her she introduced another missionary who was with SIL and he had recently had orthopedic surgery by a Believing Brazilian orthopedic surgeon that 'happened" to be doing clinics on Wednesdays with Dr Steele. As we were speaking to him the surgeon came by and we were introduced.

Once we had completed that conversation another "med team" introduced themselves and they were from Chicago, Ill area....one of their team members knew where Neosho was because of his frequent travel to Tulsa. They were so intrigued by the multiple missions that we were doing ....women' retreat, upcoming medical mission, and engaging the Manjaku. One of the RNs began asking questions and making notations of how Calvary was engaging the Manjacku people. It was very evident that God had networked us with people from both African soil and American soil to be pieces of yarn woven together to complete HIS divine tapestry.

What we didn't realize, at the time, was that God was already putting into place HIS provision for our team.

At approximately 5:00 pm, Vicki (the team member joined us from TN) had a "freak" accident that involved her great toe. She actually cut the toe, severing the tendon completely and exposing the bone. This required immediate medical attention and God had already introduced us to an orthopedic surgeon, who was a believer, that morning at Dr Steele's clinic. I was able to contact Dr Steele and he graciously arranged for this surgeon to meet us at his clinic and they took care of our every need....God is so GOOD!

The most unbelievable aspect in all of this, is that Sandee (yes, I said Sandee!) Hedger actually assisted the surgeon in irrigation of the surgical wound while the surgeon was suturing!!! ....this is the same women that almost passed out because the nurses couldn't get an IV started on Ms. Leota! Teehee! Calvary now has its newest prospective for serving on our future medical missions! Now who would have "thunk it"?!

We are so grateful to God and to DRs Steele and Chagas! How refreshing to see Drs who are yielding their skills and talents to tell a lost world of Jesus! I have attached a photo of the "surgical team".

When we arrived back to the guest house I had an e-mail from my sister that stated.....

"Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out
your hand against the anger of my foes, with your right hand you save me. The
Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your love, O Lord, endures forever-- do
not abandon the works of your hands." Psalm 138:7-8 God is our provision... we
are to remain stedfast to HIS call.

Thank-you sooo much for the intercessory prayers .....we KNEW when Sandee began assising the surgeon and we ALL had peace that prayers were going up!Smiling!

Please cont to voice our needs to the Father. The women will begin ministering to the African leadership team today. Several team members visited Jacqueline and her family yesterday evening in Grand Yoff. Jacqueline was the one who prayed to receive Christ on our last Jan trip...we will be prayer walking again today. When Jacquiline was asked how her walk w/Jesus was she responded "she was still walking w/HIm and praying". Angela encouraged her to cont praying and that God would draw closer to her. Marcel Gomez, who lives in the same location, said that he was still meeting w/fellow believers. Cont to pray for their spiritual growth and for discipleship opportunities for Scott and Larry the remainder of the week.

Pray for Vicki today as she desires to go to the leadership brunch and minister to the women. She has been such a trooper!! also pray for her husband, Bill, knowing how difficult it would be to surrender your wife at times like this....pray for His peace and comfort.

For His Kingdom,
Cindy
