| It seems as if we just arrived, yet it is Friday Night. The trip to get here was long and at the arrival the temp was very hot. We arrived (Thur. evening) and went directly to a school to hand out about 75 Christmas boxes at a school. It was exciting to see the Love of God wrapped up in small boxes sent from Christians in America. After a late night meal and a very hot night we got up and went to hand out more boxes at three other schools. Because of Operation Shoe Box there has been a wonderful opportunity to share the Love of God with hundreds of Families. Now around 1,000 boxes have found their way into the lives of 1,000 children representing about 800 homes. We spent the late morning and early afternoon visiting government officials; Secretary of Education, Commander of the Gendarmerie, and the Sedhiou Prefect. We then ate a quick lunch at 2:00 p.m. and went to three villages (Bamacounda, Bouno, and Kountoubou) to give our greetings and set up times to visit with them at convenient times over the next three days. We will go to the church at Sedhiou tonight to teach on Spiritual Growth (Being a Disciple of Jesus). We will get started around 7:30ish and finish around 9:00ish (Africa time) Tomorrow we go to Bouno to speak with the chief and the elders, then to Bamacounda to speak with the chief. Both are open doors because of previous visits that God has orchestrated. The Gospel has been introduced several times over the previous visits, and we are hoping for some to be drawn to Salvation. We also had the opportunity to visit with the family of Fatou Keita and Fatoumata Ndiaye. This is the young girl who had surgery and her mother whom are in Neosho. They were very excited to hear of the wonderful work that God has already done in the healing of Fatou. It has opened the door for greater opportunity for the Gospel to be received by this village. The village is Bouno, this is also where God sent Cindy to minister to the Mother whose child died two years ago. God has blessed us with favor in this village. This is our Schedule for now. Saturday Morning Kountoubou and Bamacounda Afternoon Bamacounda to pass out Christmas Boxes Evening Sedhiou to Teach Sunday Morning Worship at Sadhiou Afternoon Visit possible new work Evening Bomacounda to Teach Monday Morning Bouno Afternoon Dialingihoto to Teach Evening Touba to Show Jesus Film Tuesday Morning Pow Wow with Church Leaders Afternoon Leave for Tambacounda Wednesday Morning Leave for Dakar Thursday Morning Meet with Ministry Leaders about Mandyak Friday 4:00am Leave to Begin Flights Home Saturday 1:00am Arrive in Neosho Note from Bro. Sam Jefferson called from Bamakounda at about 11:30 a.m. CDT. (GMT is Greenwich Mean Time from which the times of the world are measured, CDT is GMT -5 hours) The cell phone connections in that area are spotty and not always good. The call dropped before I found out if they had been able to get petrol. Since the plan was for Jefferson to go early and purchase fuel in Kolda, I assume they were successful. They were to rent a local taxi to visit the two villages. Keep praying anyway because Sedhiou is not the head of the distribution chain even when the truck start rolling again! They were distributing the Christmas Child boxes in Bamakounda. They were scheduled to do this at 3 p.m. When I spoke to Jefferson, it was 4:30 (their time) and they were about to start. Note: they will begin teaching later. Last night they had to use the generator that Pastor Ngor has for lights at church because the electicity was not working as well. When it is really hot as it is now, a breeze is a welcome thing! Under the Mango tree in the shade with a breeze, life is better. However, in a house when there is No electricity there is no fan. Unless you have a batter operated fans as Cindy wisely purchased ... however, I am not sure if they know about them or have the large batteries needed to operate them. |
