The team after a hard day of travel from the Casamance to Dakar were worn out from the days of clinic, stomach problems, and just the rough road. The first batch arrived at the Gran Yoff Guest House about 8 p.m. and the second batch just before 10 but in time to order pizza! The last of the folks got to bed by 1 a.m. Not s ure what went on up stairs, but every once in a while we would hear a big thump. I do know someone upstairs short sheeted a bed. The girls or "ladies" would not do something like that! Some of the guys were complaining about some snoring going on. Ray took a sleeping pill and out for the count ... literally and we have pictures to testify to that fact.
Today has been busy. Cindy, Bonnie and I met with Jefferson Cordiero at New Tribes Mission. Jefferson is leading that group in Senegal. However, he has a love and burden for the Manjak. He tried to work his schedule around to go with us tomorrow to teach. However, he has an important meeting on Monday and Tuesday. He will be unable to travel down with us. But he will take a bush taxi down on Wedneday. He will teach with us on Thursday and Friday and return with us on Saturday. We were able to rearrange our teaching at Djilandjicoto (not sure of the correct spelling). The leader of the church there is Paul whose son is named after Jefferson. So Jefferson is anxious to visit and see where they are spiritually.
After that meeting, Cindy found a treasure of items for sale. The items were made by believers and ministries working with New Tribes. She has begun to consider a cottage industry and is possibly taking on Walmart. We made our way to the artisans village to meet the other group.
They had gone to the ICRD school/orphanage to check the students as they have done for the last 3 years. They found the students is good condition. This is always a hightlight for them because the children instead of being upset and despondant about their situation are happy and thankful for their daily blessings. They LOVE to perform for the teach each time we are able to pass by.
After finishing the team stopped at the Creamy Inn ... where you can buy pizza, chicken dishes, and a host of other things. The New Tribes group joined them for lunch and then to return to do their shopping.
The team will leave the guest house about 10 p.m. (4 p.m. your time) to begin their journey back to Washington and St. Louis arriving there around 10 a.m. Pray for the team as they navigate through a busy airport, the checking in process, the security, immigrations and final check before boarding the plane. Pray for them to be able to rest on the plane. Pray for their arrival, immigrations, security, luggage handling as well as ride to pick them up. Pray espically for Gary as he drives back to Neosho.
The teaching team will leave at 6 a.m. to begin the travel to the Casamance. We will be using Musa's new van which is a nice new Ford. Pray for the teaching and opportunities to help stregthen these believers and impact the spread of the good news we have been seeking to share for the last several years.
Thanks for being part of the team ... praying is not just something to do, it is the primary action of a people dependent upon the Lord. We are not here to do what we want to do, but to be faithful to do what He directs us to do. We are dependent upon you and your faithfulness.
Bro. Sam
