What an eventful day this has been!! All of our tails are dragging but it the best tired I have ever felt! We are continually amazed at the way we are received!
Our first point of business was to visit the Prefect of Education in Bambali. He has jurisdiction over the school in Bamacounda. As always we were granted much favor.
Our next adventure was visiting new villages today, Boudiesammine and Boudiemar. They each had schools of over three hundred students that we were introduced to. At the school in Boudiemar we had a great time of dance and celebration and then we toured the school. Yet, the most exciting part was when we discovered that there are two believing teachers at the school in which one of them is Mandyak!!! How great is that!?! Sam had briefly visited this village in January of 2008 after paying a visit to Opa. Doors had not been opened yet but we had a personal invitation yesterday from Mr. Baa, who was another teacher that worked with Mr.Mendy last year and was transferred to this new village just one month ago. Mr. Baa also was very active in distributing tickets at our medical clinic last Jan in Bamacounda. God is continually revealing to us that HE has been directing and guiding and bringing together HIS master plan in HIS time!!
We then went to Boudiemar and briefly extended greetings at another school. One of the teachers there is a neighbor of Pastor N’gor’s. It also has three hundred plus students and their predominate people group in this village is Mandyak.
At this point we don’t know where all of this is going to take us but one thing is sure…God has a bigger plan and is continually “connecting dots” of His master plan.
We then began our journey home and was able to stop at Sebastian’s on the way back. Sebastian is an active leader in Pastor N’gor’s church. He was a key member of our evangelistic team in Jan. and has been assisting Mr.Mendy in teaching the Bible study for the children at school once a week in Bamacounda. His testimony is amazing and he was able to share it w/Pastor Roger. I still get goose bumps every time I hear it!
After a brief time of regrouping at the river house we went to Djende and met with the Prefect of Education who is over the school at Bloc and Kounayan-Mancagne. That went very well and again we could not have asked for a better reception. While we were there, Jean Pierre “just so happened” to arrive. We had a nice visit w/him and he is going to be able to attend the “Leadership Conference” on Friday and Saturday.
We then made a brief visit to Nema and Mbabou there in Kounayan-Mancagne. They are our persons of peace there at the village and both are believers. Nema is Mandyak and has been praying for a Mandyak pastor since we were here last Nov. Pam and I are so excited that they are going to be at our “Women’s conference” Friday morning. Please continue to pray that they will have trust in us and feel the freedom to open up to us.
As we walked back to the village…about a 3/4 of a mile into the bush…we couldn’t believe that the millet was over 20 foot tall!!! Mark is never going to believe another word I say about what Africa looks like because the bush is higher and more plentiful than I have ever seen!!!...complete villages camouflaged by towering vegetation.
Our final stop of the day was at the home of Mr. Baji. He was so happy to see us and said that the community of Kounayan-Mancagne has anxiously been waiting for us. One thing that he specifically asked for was the possibility of his teachers talking with our teachers so they could learn just like his students. Please pray there will be a time that Mark can meet with his teachers for “Q&A”.
We arrived back at the river house about 7:30 with a wonderful meal of Vermicelli ready and waiting. I don’t know what we would do without NeNe!! She is a wonderful cook and serves her little heart out on us!!!
We sing his praises for all He has done! I have to admit it is a little overwhelming at times because the needs are so great and darkness prevails. Urgency is felt, fields are ripe, and workers are so few.
Our health is holding up well with one exception. Pastor Roger’s gout is flaring up. We were able to get some medicine but please pray for its healing.
Team, please know that we are praying for your safe travels! You are continually in our thoughts along with our families. We love you all very much!
Cindy
