The last few days have been a wonderful time of fellowship with friends...both new and old. This evening I have had the wonderful opportunity to meet up with Sandy Emery. She "just happened" to be in Dakar. She wanted me to be sure and tell the "Calvary girls" hello. She still talks about how much of an encouragement we were to her in Nov of 2007. Please cont to pray for her. She has been ill the last month. She also had malaria in Feb. Her first 4 months of her second 4 year term have had many challenges but she overall is doing well.
I also met a journeyman by the name of Eric. What an inspiration he has been. He is working in Kolda with the Fulakunda, which is sub-group of the Fulani. We ventured out to the Artisan village today. Neither of us speaking French or Wolof...but we had a great time!
Thursday we had a wonderful visit with Tening Sanding and Famara. Of course, this time it was the entire village. We also gave them a ride to where Tening's family lives so that I could meet her family. They were preparing for a Muslim holiday so many festivities were going on. This time instead of giving me a live chicken it was 2 different kinds of raw meat. I decided to pass the blessing on to Pastor N'gor and his family...grinning. With all the "gift giving" God did opened the door for me to share the Gospel with both families. Please pray that the seeds planted will come to full fruition.
Famara's father was very ill Thursday. Tening walked all the way to Pastor's house today to have him notify me that he passed away this morning. The news brought such a sense of heaviness...to know that so many people have never heard the name of Jesus! Pastor then returned with her back to the village, giving her a ride on his moped. Please pray that God will continue to provide opportunities for N'gor to share the gospel.
It's hard to believe that it is time to prepare for my travel home. This trip has been so blessed and I can't sing HIS praises enough. Thank-you so much for all of the prayer support.
May HE continue to be glorified!
Cindy
"How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, 'How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!' Romans 10:14-15
