Village of Bamakunda

Good morning everyone. As you have probably figured out, internet service is very limited so I apologize for delays in blogging.
One thing that I able going to attempt to do is post the video of Tom singing at Pastor N’gom’s church. I am technically challenged (and mentally as well, teehee!) so I hope it works. I am so humbled by seeing firsthand the impact that Tom Myers has made in the 5 months that he has been here. I don’t think that we will know this side of heaven just how far reaching his efforts are going to be. Tom was willing to step out in faith and walk in obedience to the call that Christ had placed on his life. What a true example he is for us!!
Yesterday we had the opportunity to go to Tereno. This is the village where Sebastian (a deacon in Pastor N’gom’s church) lives. We were able to just sit , relax, and talk about some of the basic principles of being a believer, such as baptism and prayer. Sebastian also stated that although there were many people in his village he still felt “very lonely” because they did not all have the same beliefs. Charles, a “seeker” as Joseph would say, also joined us under the tree. He stated that has felt “great passion” in his heart. Sebastian is one of Tom’s students and has completed 3 lessons of the Training Rural Trainers (TRT) . We must commit to pray for Pastor N’gom and Charles as they cont in the lessons, that they will remain steadfast in their faith walk. They are the “Moses and Aaron” for this region.
The other highlight of the day was revisiting Bamakunda. That is the village were there are 4,000 Manjacku people. This is also the village were Tom showed the Jesus film about a week ago and they asked if we could show it again Sat. Yeah God! They also have a shell of a medical clinic. We were extended the privilege of seeing the clinic and meeting w/the president of the clinic who is Mandyak. Imagine that! We also had a naming ceremony…Gwens! The president of the medical clinic gave Gwen the Manjacku name of “Maluti Gomez” Maluti means “he one who came” and Gomez is the presidents last name! That was such an honor! The village extended much hospitality and gratitude for our presence there. The Imam (Muslim priest) joined our vision team, the chief of the village, president of the medical clinic, and the school teacher to discuss possibilities of service in the future.
Today (Tuesday), we are to meet w/the Dr. at the hospital in Sediou. Dr. Barro is no longer there and has been replaced by Dr. Konte. There are several decisions that need to be made regarding the clinic. Please bathe that in prayer so that we will have HIS wisdom.
Continue to pray for Moussa, our driver. He takes very good care of us! We will also be visiting 2 new villages this afternoon. Pray that we will radiate Christ to them. Pray for health and stamina for the team.
Special hugs and kisses to our families. We love you very much! Thank-you for all of your prayer support. That is what sustains us!
Blessings,
Cindy
