Greetings from Sedhiou! God could not have blessed our travel more. We can sense the prayers that are going up in our behalf!
Of course the day started at the Dakar airport...once again it was the easiest time that I have had at the airport in Dakar! What a blessing! Joseph was on time ( another miracle!teehee!) and waiting for us. He and Moussa had a wonderful trip down the day before and only had to wait 20 minutes for the ferry to cross the Gambia river. That sure beats 4 hours, right Larry E.? Then in our journey to Sediou from Ziguinchor we "happened" to get behind a military truck w/soldiers equipped w/their weapons...it was like when God parted the Red sea! This meant that we were able to avoid the multiple "military check points!
We then arrived at the river house where Tom is staying. I don't know who was happier to see whom...Tom or us! It has been a very eventful evening. We have meant w/Jean Pierre, Head school master at Bloc, and discussed the possibility of future efforts of evangelism at the school. Joseph also took Gwen, Billy, and myself to meeting the mayor of Sedhiou. He has graciously offered to provide dinner in honor of our team tomorrow night. Please pray that this is yet another open door for us to share the name of Jesus. N'gor N'gom, pastor of the only evangelical church in Sedhiou, has also spent the evening with us. I don't think that there is anything more exciting to see how the hand of God is uniting HIS church in order for growth in HIS Kingdom!! What a privilege it is to be a part of it! All of YOU are a part of it!!! Moment by moment we sense and know that prayer is the key!
We are presently at the Kelly's house, the IMB missionary family. It is always such a delight to have the opportunity to revisit them. Tonight they also have another medical team here that they are working with. It always blows me away that we come to Africa and meet someone from the States, this time Georgia.
Tomorrow we plan to begin the day by worshipping w/Pastor N'gom at his church. Nathan Barber will be preaching and Pastor N'gom will transate in multiple languages. Please lift this up in prayer that the message will be clear to all that hear. After we leave the church services we are in hopes to visit a new village that Tom has shown the Jesus film in. Once again, God conts to open doors just as we have prayed! We serve an awesome God!
"But Moses told the people, 'Don't be afraid. Just stand where you are and watch the LORD rescue you...The Lord himself will fight for you. You won't have to lift a finger in your defense!...Then Moses raised his hand over the sea, and the LORD opened up a path through the water with a strong east wind. The wind blew all that night, turning the the seabed into dry land. So the people of Israel walked through the sea on dry ground, with walls of water on each side!" Exodus 14: 13, 14, 21, 22 God conts to prepare our way and make a hedge of protection around us. Thank-you Lord!
Love and blessings to all.
